Today we complete the first quarter of our academic year with a wonderful celebration promoting the love of reading. KG students paraded wearing their favorite book character costumes while elementary students came to school ready with their favorite toy, a sleeping bag while wearing their pajama’s ready for reading camp.
The Kindergarten through to Grade 4 Literacy Festival activities have been overwhelming enjoyed by students, teachers and parents. Our week long book fair saw children’s enthusiasm to read swell as they returned time and time again to sample and select the literacy items available.
Our visiting writer, Steven Davies joined us all the way from the UK and shared some wonderful workshops with students as together they shared important secrets to becoming a successful story writer.
Parents attended our first set of Kindergarten through to Grade 4 Arabic Reading Workshops for Parents, where they were able to share in activities that they can also use to engage children in reading and learning to read. We look forward to inviting you to our Kindergarten through to Grade 4 English Reading Workshops on Monday 23rd November. Kindergarten workshops will be from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm and Grade 1 to 4 workshops will be from 2:45pm to 2:30 pm.
I would like to say a big thank you to all those who joined us as mystery readers. Being read to is hugely important for our Kindergarten through to Grade 4 learners and inclosing I would encourage you to continue to read to your children every day as well as listen to them read to you every day.
